ISLAMABAD: Authorities carried out a massive crackdown against illegally residing Afghan nationals in Islamabad and adjoining cities. More than 2,000 security personnel carried out the crackdown in coordinated operations.
Police, Pakistan Rangers, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and intelligence agencies conducted joint search-and-comb operations in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal.
Meanwhile, officials tightened security around mosques to prevent any untoward incidents.
In Islamabadโs Tarnol and Ittihad Colony, officials deployed 150 police officers, including 12 Lady Police personnel, along with CTD teams, 15 Rangers officials, and intelligence staff. During the operation, teams searched 165 houses, checked 26 vehicles and 48 motorcycles, and screened 570 individuals. Authorities arrested 51 people, including 16 Afghan nationals, for alleged violations.
Expanded Monitoring in Rawalpindi and Murree
In Rawalpindiโs Dhok Kashmirian and adjoining areas within Sadiqabad Police Station limits, law enforcement personnel searched 50 houses and inspected 15 vehicles, 10 motorcycles, and 120 individuals. However, officials released 11 individuals after issuing formal warnings and directing them to complete rental registration requirements.
Similarly, in Chakwal, teams searched 47 houses and shops and examined the documents of 98 individuals, while Lady Police officers assisted in the process.
Furthermore, authorities intensified monitoring in Murree as part of the ongoing crackdown.
Officials stated that security agencies will continue targeted operations to ensure compliance with residency laws and maintain public safety.
