KARACHI, Feb 19 – Sindh Rangers arrested a “highly wanted” suspect during an intelligence-based operation in Gulistan-e-Johar, according to a statement issued Thursday.
Officials identified the suspect as Dost Muhammad, son of Gul Faraz Khan and a resident of Bajaur. Authorities said he allegedly participated in a November 2020 attack targeting the assistant commissioner of Nawagai in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Rangers spokesperson, the accused and other alleged militants opened fire on the official and set government machinery ablaze. Police registered a case at the Makaland Counter Terrorism Department police station under terrorism charges.
Following the incident, the suspect allegedly went into hiding in Karachi. Moreover, officials said he continued to coordinate with accomplices and planned further attacks at sensitive locations.
Rangers said they have launched additional raids to apprehend other suspects linked to the case. Subsequently, authorities handed Dost Muhammad over to the Counter Terrorism Department in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for further legal proceedings.
The spokesperson urged citizens to report suspicious activity to the nearest Rangers check post or through the Rangers Helpline 1101 and the Rangers Madadgar WhatsApp number 0347-9001111. Officials assured the public that they will keep informants’ identities confidential.
