Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistanโs deep strategic ties with the United Arab Emirates during a high-level meeting in Abu Dhabi, the militaryโs media wing said Monday. He met Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the army chief said the UAEโs security and stability remain closely tied to Pakistanโs own national interests. Both sides explored ways to enhance collaboration, particularly in economic partnerships, investment opportunities, and security coordination.
The leaders also exchanged views on regional developments and stressed continued coordination to support peace and stability across the broader Middle East and South Asia.
Praise for Longstanding Partnership
During the talks, Munir thanked Emirati leadership for sustained support to Pakistan, especially in economic and security spheres. He noted that decades of cooperation reflect strong historical ties between the two nations and acknowledged the UAEโs role in advancing Pakistanโs development initiatives.
The army chief reiterated Islamabadโs commitment to further deepening the partnership in ways that benefit both nations and contribute to regional stability.
The meeting comes amid ongoing high-level exchanges between the two countries. Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, praising the Gulf stateโs consistent support. Earlier, Munir also met the UAE president at Qasr Al Shati Palace, where both sides reviewed bilateral cooperation.
