Lahore witnessed a major automotive debut on February 13 as Chery unveiled the Tiggo 9 Plug-in Hybrid, signaling an ambitious push into Pakistan’s premium SUV market. The launch reflects the company’s “Hello Chery” strategy, which prioritizes aftersales infrastructure and service readiness before product rollouts.
Globally, Chery ranks as China’s top auto exporter for 23 consecutive years, operating in over 120 countries. In Pakistan, the brand enters through Master Auto Engineering, part of the Master Group with a decades-long reputation. The company previously introduced the Tiggo 8, positioning it as the country’s first seven-seat plug-in hybrid D-SUV, setting the stage for its latest flagship.
Features, Performance and Pricing
The Tiggo 9 arrives as Pakistan’s only premium E-segment SUV, aiming to create a new category rather than compete in an existing one. Powered by Chery’s Super Hybrid system, the vehicle offers up to 170 kilometers of pure electric range and a combined range of nearly 1,400 kilometers. An all-wheel-drive setup, advanced suspension, and high-output drivetrain deliver both performance and refinement.
Inside, the SUV emphasizes luxury and technology. The cabin features extensive soft-touch materials, massage seats, and heated and ventilated seating across two rows. A large infotainment display, digital instrument cluster, and 14-speaker sound system enhance in-car entertainment, while vehicle-to-load capability adds practical functionality.
Safety remains a key selling point, with 10 airbags and advanced driver-assistance features. Company executives described the model as a benchmark-setting flagship.
The Tiggo 9 launches at an introductory price of PKR 13,694,000, with bookings open nationwide and test drives available through authorized dealerships.
