ISLAMABAD: Prominent social media influencer Areeka Haq has advised young girls to approach online fame with caution, warning about the potential risks tied to pursuing popularity on digital platforms.
In a recent interview, Areeka urged aspiring influencers to safeguard their privacy and avoid choices that could create long-term problems. She observed that in the race for recognition, some individuals deliberately share private or controversial videos to attract attention. Although such tactics may generate short-term visibility, she cautioned that they often carry lasting consequences.
Furthermore, Areeka noted that trends such as couple or collaborative videos once helped many creators rise to prominence. However, when those trends faded, some influencers turned to increasingly controversial content to regain relevance. While she clarified that not everyone adopts this approach, she acknowledged that similar incidents continue to emerge online.
Highlighting her own journey, Areeka said she has consistently maintained personal boundaries and refused to use her private life as a publicity tool. She stressed that dignity and strong character form the foundation of sustainable success. According to her, fleeting fame achieved through sensationalism can damage reputations and future opportunities.
At the same time, Areeka addressed the darker side of social media. She acknowledged that trolling, harsh criticism, and inappropriate comments can trigger significant mental stress. Reflecting on her experience, she revealed that she once battled anxiety and depression. Nevertheless, with the support of family and close friends, she managed to overcome those challenges.
Through her message, Areeka encouraged young girls to prioritise self-respect, emotional well-being, and long-term growth over temporary online attention.
