The first trailer of Bilal Atif Khan’s upcoming slapstick comedy Aag Lagay Basti Mein suggests that “nice guys finish last,” as it introduces a chaotic story packed with crime, confusion and Karachi-style humour. The trailer dropped on Monday ahead of the film’s Eidul Fitr release.
Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan lead the cast as Barkat and Almaas, a married couple stuck in a life where honesty brings more setbacks than rewards. Barkat plays an honest, hardworking man who fails to get ahead, while Almaas appears frustrated with his goody-two-shoes attitude and pushes for drastic change.
From cleaners to criminals as chaos escalates
The story begins with Barkat and Almaas working as cleaners. However, they soon shift toward petty crime in an attempt to improve their lives, with Almaas clearly driving the decision. As the trailer progresses, the stakes rise quickly, and the couple’s small-time plans spiral into a much larger criminal mess involving dangerous figures.
The trailer blends guns, fast cars and punchlines, while also showing glimpses of the couple’s domestic tension. One scene shows Barkat wearing a torn prison jumpsuit, hinting that the crime route may lead to serious consequences.
Star cast brings back Karachi caper energy
Veteran actor Javed Sheikh plays a crime boss, while comedian Tabish Hashmi appears as the film’s main villain. The supporting cast also includes Shehzaadi Samra, who makes a cameo and is widely known for the viral “accha jee, aisa hai kya” meme.
Earlier in January, the teaser promised similar mayhem and even referenced the fable of the goose that laid golden eggs, suggesting the couple may take on more than they can handle.
Most of the cast previously worked together in Quaid e Azam Zindabad, while Mustafa and Sheikh also shared the screen in the hit Na Maloom Afraad franchise.
