The family of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan has received his medical report from jail authorities. The report was handed over by officials of Central Jail Rawalpindi, also known as Adiala jail. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed the development on Friday.
Imran Khan has been incarcerated at Adiala jail for several months. His health has remained a subject of public and political attention. Concerns increased after reports emerged about a medical procedure carried out last month. The disclosure of the medical report comes after days of political debate and protests.
The PTI had accused authorities of concealing details about Khan’s health. Party leaders and supporters demanded transparency. The release of the report is being seen as an official response to those concerns.
Transfer to PIMS and Medical Procedure Details
Last month, Imran Khan was shifted from Adiala jail to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences. The transfer was made for an eye-related medical procedure. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed at the time that the procedure lasted around 20 minutes.
The minister stated that the procedure was routine and carried out on medical advice. However, details were not immediately shared publicly. This delay led to speculation and political criticism.
According to officials, the former prime minister was transported under strict security arrangements. Medical staff at PIMS handled the procedure. After completion, he was returned to Adiala jail.
The issue surfaced days later when PTI leaders claimed Khan’s illness was being hidden. Protests were staged, and statements were issued demanding full disclosure. The government later clarified that there was no attempt to conceal medical information.
Findings of Imran Khan’s Medical Report
The medical report was issued by PIMS Executive Director Professor Dr Rana Imran Sikandar. It provides detailed findings regarding Imran Khan’s eye condition. According to the report, Mr Imran Khan Niazi, aged 74, complained of reduced vision in his right eye.
A senior and qualified ophthalmologist from PIMS conducted a complete examination. The assessment took place at Adiala jail. Multiple diagnostic tests were performed during the evaluation.
These tests included a slit lamp examination and fundoscopy. Doctors also measured intraocular pressure. Essential laboratory tests were conducted as part of the assessment. Optical coherence tomography of the retina was also performed.
Based on these findings, doctors diagnosed right central retinal vein occlusion. This condition affects blood flow in the retina and can impact vision. The medical team recommended hospital-based follow-up treatment.
Following the diagnosis, Imran Khan was brought to PIMS for the advised procedure. The report states that the treatment was medically necessary and timely.
Procedure Outcome and Post-Treatment Condition
The procedure was carried out in the operation theatre at PIMS. Doctors followed standard sterile protocols throughout the process. Continuous monitoring was ensured during the treatment.
The medical report states that the procedure was completed smoothly. It lasted approximately 20 minutes. No complications were reported during or after the procedure.
During treatment, Imran Khan remained visually stable. Doctors monitored his condition closely. After completion, he was discharged with routine post-procedure instructions.
The report confirms that his condition was managed according to medical standards. No emergency complications were noted. Follow-up care was advised as part of routine treatment.
Government officials said the report was shared with the family to ensure transparency. The development aims to address public concern regarding Khan’s health. Authorities maintain that all medical needs of incarcerated individuals are being met.
