ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Musadik Malik said that the federal government will empower young people to use modern technology and investment to protect Pakistanโs environment and cope with climate challenges.
Addressing a ceremony, the federal minister stressed that guiding the younger generation remains critical for long-term environmental sustainability. He said the youth possess the energy, creativity, and innovation needed to drive a climate revolution across the country.
According to him, meaningful change can only occur if young people are actively engaged in environmental protection efforts.
Drawing international comparisons, Malik cited Finland as an example of how sustained policies and youth participation helped save forests and restore ecosystems. He emphasized that Pakistan can adopt similar approaches by combining awareness, technology, and investment.

Meanwhile, the minister referred to Chinaโs transformation as further evidence of what targeted environmental strategies can achieve. He noted that a decade ago, cities such as Shanghai and Beijing ranked among the worldโs most polluted. Today, however, China stands as the largest supplier of green energy globally.
Malik attributed this shift largely to the role of Chinese youth, who embraced modern environmental technologies and supported clean energy initiatives. He said Pakistanโs young population could replicate such success if given the right tools and opportunities.
Furthermore, the minister highlighted the governmentโs Green Field Programme, which aims to strengthen environmental protection and promote sustainable practices nationwide. He added that public initiatives alone will not be sufficient to meet climate goals.
Therefore, Malik urged the private sector and international organisations to actively participate in environmental projects, invest in green technologies, and support youth-led initiatives. He maintained that collective action involving government, businesses, global partners, and young citizens remains essential for safeguarding Pakistanโs environment and ensuring a sustainable future for the coming generations.
