Despite the improvements, PSL-level matches are not confirmed for Peshawar. In late 2025, PSL CEO Salman Naseer included the stadium among six potential venues. Discussions considered Peshawar alongside Faisalabad as possible additions.
Naseer noted that the stadium was “almost ready” but needed minor upgrades to meet international standards. Inspectors identified only limited work before it could host PSL matches.
However, later decisions excluded Peshawar. Faisalabad became the preferred additional venue. Therefore, Imran Khan Stadium did not host PSL games in the latest season.

Even though PSL matches are pending, the stadium’s completion represents progress. Authorities and cricket administrators expect the venue to host top-tier events in the future. Moreover, the upgrades highlight Peshawar’s commitment to professional cricket and regional participation.
