Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, H.E. Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, recently visited the Kingdom of Cambodia. He led a high-level parliamentary delegation, marking a milestone in bilateral relations. This visit highlights Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening parliamentary diplomacy with Cambodia.
Bilateral Discussions and Cooperation
During the visit, Chairman Senate Gilani met with the President of the Cambodian Senate, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen. Both leaders held comprehensive discussions on matters of mutual interest. They focused on enhancing parliamentary cooperation and strengthening political, economic, and people-to-people engagements.
The two sides explored new avenues for cooperation in trade, investment, institutional collaboration, and parliamentary exchanges. They reaffirmed a shared commitment to elevate Pakistan–Cambodia relations through sustained dialogue and collaboration.

In recognition of the Chairman’s visit, the Cambodian government hosted an official dinner. This gesture underlined the warm and friendly relations between the two nations. Arrival and Official Welcome
Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, Chairman Senate Gilani received a warm reception at Techo International Airport. He was welcomed by Cambodia’s Second Vice President of the Senate, Dr. Thun Vathana, along with other senior Cambodian officials. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Sardar Zaheer ud din Babar Thaheem, also received him, highlighting the delegation’s significance.
Honoring Cambodia’s Heritage
As part of official engagements, the Chairman visited the Independence Monument to pay tribute to Cambodia’s national heroes. He also laid a wreath at the Royal Memorial Statue of the late King Father Preah Borom Ratanak Kaoudh, symbolizing Pakistan’s respect for Cambodia’s history, heritage, and national legacy.
Official Reception at Cambodian Senate
Chairman Senate Gilani later arrived at the Solidarity Palace for a formal reception at Polyarthipadi Hall. He was personally welcomed by President Hun Sen. Both leaders reviewed the Guard of Honour and exchanged greetings. The delegation members were formally introduced, reinforcing the spirit of parliamentary diplomacy.
