ISLAMABAD: Italy has announced fully-funded scholarships for Pakistani students for the academic year 2026-27.
Pakistani students aspiring to pursue higher education in Europe can now apply for Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) Scholarships for the 2026–27. The fully funded programme offers study and research opportunities at leading Italian universities and aims to strengthen international academic cooperation.
Scholarship offers study at top Italian universities
Italy has officially launched the MAECI Scholarship programme to promote global academic exchange and encourage the study of the Italian language and culture. Through this initiative, successful Pakistani applicants can enrol at prestigious institutions, including the University of Bologna, Sapienza University of Rome, and Politecnico di Milano.
Moreover, the scholarship supports a wide range of academic pathways, including master’s degrees, PhD programmes, and research projects. Authorities said the programme reflects Italy’s commitment to attracting international talent and fostering long-term educational partnerships.
Comprehensive financial support and eligibility
Under the MAECI Scholarship, selected students will receive a monthly stipend of €900. In addition, the award provides full exemption from tuition and enrolment fees at public universities, except for minor regional charges. The scholarship also includes health and accident insurance for the duration of the study period.
Scholarships are initially granted for three, six, or nine months. However, students enrolled in longer degree programmes may apply for renewal, subject to academic performance and programme requirements.
Pakistani students can apply if they meet specific criteria. Applicants for master’s degrees must be under 28 years of age and hold a relevant bachelor’s degree. PhD applicants must be under 30, possess a master’s degree, and provide a university acceptance letter. Meanwhile, candidates for research projects must be under 40 years of age.
Applications must be submitted online through the official Study in Italy portal.
Interested candidates will have to create an account, select an eligible programme, and upload required details and documents. They should also include academic records and a motivation letter. Mid-June 2026 is the anticipated deadline for these scholarships.
