ISLAMABAD: Entry of tourists has been banned in the Galiyat region for four days due to the risk of heavy rain and snowfall.
According to the Abbottabad administration, worsening weather conditions across the area prompted the preventive measures. Officials reported that the move aims to protect travelers and reduce the risk of accidents on slippery roads and in vulnerable mountainous regions.
Administration Imposes Restrictions as Weather Worsens
The district administration actively enforced the ban after reviewing updated weather forecasts that warned of continued rain and possible snowfall in the coming days. Officials advised tourists to avoid traveling to Galiyat until Wednesday, emphasizing that safety remains the top priority. Moreover, they urged potential visitors to postpone their plans and stay updated through official channels to avoid inconvenience.
Authorities confirmed that the administration will lift the restriction once weather conditions improve and the area becomes safe for travel. Until then, officials continue to monitor the situation closely and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure preparedness in case conditions deteriorate further. Consequently, the administration hopes to minimize risks to both tourists and residents.
Police Directed to Enforce Ban at Key Check Posts
To ensure strict implementation, authorities instructed police to stop tourists at the Harno and Barian check posts. Officers have begun actively turning back travelers attempting to enter the region during the restriction period. According to officials, this step will help prevent overcrowding in sensitive areas and reduce pressure on emergency services.
Local administration officials have also encouraged hotels and guesthouses in Galiyat to cooperate with the measures and inform potential guests about the temporary ban. Meanwhile, residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel as intermittent rain and low temperatures continue to affect daily life.
The administration reiterated that these precautionary steps aim to safeguard lives. Therefore, tourists are encouraged to reschedule their visits and return once conditions stabilize and access reopens.
