Colin Jost is officially returning as host for the second season of Pop Culture Jeopardy!, putting to rest months of speculation following the showโs high-profile platform switch.
The Saturday Night Live star previously hosted the debut season of the trivia spinoff, which originally streamed on Prime Video. The series launched alongside several celebrity-driven game shows, including Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? hosted by Travis Kelce and JB Smooveโs Buy It Now and Wish List Games.
When Pop Culture Jeopardy! made an unexpected move from Prime Video to Netflix in October, Jostโs future with the show was unclear. Now, according to Deadline, Jost has officially signed on to continue as host, confirming his return for season two.
The Jeopardy! spinoff will once again be executive produced by Michael Davies, the longtime showrunner of the flagship series. Davies became Jeopardy!โs permanent executive producer in 2022, taking over from Mike Richards and becoming only the fourth EP in the iconic game showโs nearly 60-year history.
Netflix has confirmed that season two of Pop Culture Jeopardy! is slated to premiere later in 2026. However, it remains unclear whether the showโs first season will also make the jump to Netflix or remain exclusive to Prime Video.
The series puts a modern twist on the classic quiz show format, with teams of three competing to answer trivia questions centered entirely on pop culture. Categories span movies, television, music, books, and social media, catering to a younger and digitally savvy audience. The inaugural season ended with a grand prize of $300,000 for the winning team.
Jostโs hosting stint proved successful beyond ratings. His performance earned him his first-ever Emmy nomination for Outstanding Host for a Game Show, further solidifying his reputation as a versatile television personality beyond late-night comedy.
Jostโs involvement in Pop Culture Jeopardy! had previously fueled rumors that he might be preparing to exit Saturday Night Live after its milestone 50th season. As the longtime co-anchor of โWeekend Update,โ speculation swirled that his hosting duties could signal a gradual transition away from the sketch comedy institution.
Those rumors were ultimately put to rest when Jost returned to the โWeekend Updateโ desk alongside co-host Michael Che for SNLโs 51st season, confirming that heโs not leaving Studio 8H anytime soon.
With Jost back at the podium and Netflix betting big on pop cultureโdriven content, Pop Culture Jeopardy! appears poised to expand its reach even further in its sophomore season. Whether longtime Jeopardy! fans or trivia-loving streamers, audiences can expect the same fast-paced competition โ with plenty of clever quips from its returning host.
