DALLAS, TX โ Dallas Baptist University officials gave an all-clear Thursday afternoon after threats earlier in the day forced campus evacuations and canceled classes.
The threats came ahead of a scheduled speaking engagement by U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner with Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, though it is unclear if the threats were connected to the visit. Turnerโs office confirmed the event was canceled, but provided no additional details.
University officials described the threats as โunverifiedโ but canceled classes and evacuated the campus out of an abundance of caution. Police and the FBI assisted DBU campus security in investigating the situation and found no active or ongoing threat to students or staff.
Classes are scheduled to resume as normal on Friday.
DBU, which serves roughly 4,000 students, is located off Mountain Creek Parkway in southwest Dallas.
