Popular stand-up comedian and actor Zakir Khan has left fans stunned after announcing that he plans to take a long break from live performances, citing health concerns and personal matters that require attention.
During a recent show in Hyderabad, a clip of which has been widely shared on social media, Zakir surprised the audience by revealing his decision to step away from the stage for several years. โIโm going on a long, long break till 2028, 2029, 2030 probably. Three, four, five-year break to take care of health and some other issues that need to be looked at,โ he told the crowd.
The announcement sparked an emotional response from fans, many of whom have followed his journey from small comedy clubs to sold-out international tours. Expressing his gratitude, Zakir added, โAt this moment, everyone present here tonight is very close to my heart. Your presence means more to me than you can imagine, and I will always be grateful to all of you.โ
Ahead of his Dubai show, the comedian further addressed fans through an Instagram Stories post, reassuring them that his upcoming performances would still go ahead as planned. โEvery show is a celebration till 20th June,โ he wrote, adding in Hindi, โMai bahut sheher nahi aa paunga, iss bar aap thoda takaluf utha kar aa jaiye,โ urging fans to travel to see him while he remains on tour.
Zakir Khan has previously spoken openly about the toll of an intense performance schedule on his health. In 2025, he revealed that back-to-back shows, frequent early-morning flights, irregular meals and lack of sleep had significantly impacted his well-being.
While the announcement has saddened many admirers, fans have also flooded social media with messages of support, applauding his decision to prioritise health and hoping for a strong return in the future.
