Videos showing female students participating in a modelling segment during the University of Peshawar’s welcome party have gone viral on social media, sparking debate and concerns about the appropriateness of the event. The incident occurred on January 15 at the University Public School Auditorium during the annual welcome function for new students.
In response to the public outcry, the university administration has formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the matter thoroughly. The committee is chaired by Professor Dr. Anoush Khan and includes five additional members tasked with reviewing the event and all related arrangements. The aim is to ensure that university protocols were followed and that the institution’s standards were maintained during the function.
Officials have instructed the committee to submit its report, including findings and recommendations, to the competent authority within three days.
Following the submission, the administration will decide on the appropriate course of action. University authorities emphasised that any measures will focus on maintaining discipline, upholding institutional norms, and preventing similar incidents in the future.
