Prime Ministerโs Youth Program (PMYP) Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan met German Ambassador Anka Lepel at the Prime Ministerโs Office on Friday to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in youth education, skills development, and vocational training.
During the meeting, Ambassador Lepel shared that the German government plans to significantly increase the number of Pakistani students pursuing education in Germany, raising the figure from the current 6,000 to 10,000.
She said Germany is keen to strengthen academic and professional exchanges with Pakistan and expand collaboration in the countryโs technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector. The initiative is aimed at equipping Pakistani youth with globally relevant skills and improving their employability in both domestic and international job markets.
Rana Mashhood briefed the ambassador on the scope and objectives of the Prime Ministerโs Youth Program, outlining its previous achievements, ongoing projects, and future plans.
He highlighted the role of the National Youth Council, which serves as an advisory body in shaping youth-related policies and ensuring that young peopleโs voices are represented in national decision-making.
The discussion also covered the Green Youth Movement, a flagship initiative under PMYP that focuses on environmental awareness, climate action, and sustainable development. The program encourages young people to actively participate in climate-related activities, conservation efforts, and community-based environmental projects.
Ambassador Lepel appreciated the efforts of the Prime Ministerโs Youth Program in promoting youth engagement, skills development, and employment-focused initiatives. She acknowledged the importance of investing in young people as a means to foster long-term economic growth and social stability.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration in education, vocational training, skills development, and youth exchange programs.
The meeting concluded with an understanding to further strengthen bilateral cooperation aimed at empowering Pakistani youth and providing them with greater international exposure and learning opportunities.
