Sialkot International Airport has officially transitioned to a fully cashless payment system, becoming Pakistanโs second international airport to adopt digital-only financial transactions.
The move was announced on Thursday by Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) and has been implemented in coordination with Meezan Bank.
Under the new system, all payments across the airport are now conducted through digital channels. This includes transactions at airline counters, commercial concessions, passenger lounges, parking facilities, and retail outlets. The initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency, improve transparency, and provide greater convenience for passengers, business partners, and other stakeholders.
Chairman SIAL, Hassan Ali Bhatti, described the development as a major milestone in modernising airport operations. He stated that the shift to a cashless environment goes beyond technology adoption and represents a long-term investment in customer comfort, improved financial accountability, and higher standards of operational excellence.
According to him, digital payments reduce delays, minimise cash-handling risks, and support better monitoring of financial activities.
Vice Chairman SIAL, Waqas Afzal, emphasised that the transition reflects the airportโs broader commitment to innovation and digital transformation. He noted that adopting progressive reforms is essential for meeting international aviation standards and positioning Sialkot International Airport among the leading airports in the country that are embracing modern, technology-driven solutions.
CEO SIAL, AVM Tanweer Ashraf Bhatti (R), reaffirmed the airportโs dedication to continuous improvement. He stated that Sialkot International Airport will maintain close collaboration with regulatory authorities, financial institutions, and industry stakeholders to further expand digital accessibility.
He added that such initiatives are crucial for enhancing the overall travel experience and meeting the evolving expectations of passengers.
The cashless transformation aligns with Pakistanโs growing focus on digital payments and financial inclusion. By adopting this system, Sialkot International Airport aims to support the national digital economy agenda while ensuring smoother, safer, and more efficient airport operations for millions of travellers in the years ahead.
