BAHRAIN: President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Manama on Wednesday for a four-day official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across key sectors. The visit reflects Pakistanโs continued focus on strengthening ties with Gulf partners and advancing shared diplomatic and economic goals.
Upon arrival, the president received a warm welcome from Commander of the Bahrain National Guard Sheikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa and Bahrainโs Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.
Ambassador of Bahrain to Pakistan Mohammed Ibrahim Abdulqader and Pakistanโs Ambassador to Bahrain Saqib Rauf were also present, highlighting the importance both countries attach to the engagement.
During his stay, President Zardari will hold meetings with Bahrainโs King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The discussions will focus on bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.
Moreover, officials expect the talks to identify practical avenues for closer coordination on diplomacy, economic development, and regional stability. Consequently, both sides aim to translate longstanding goodwill into tangible outcomes that benefit their peoples.
Visit highlights trade, security, and people-to-people links
The visit seeks to reinforce Pakistanโs historic cooperation with the brotherly Gulf nation while also broadening opportunities for collaboration in trade and economic partnership, defence and security, and people-to-people exchanges.
Officials believe enhanced economic engagement can encourage investment flows, promote business connectivity, and create new prospects for workers. In addition, closer security cooperation can contribute to stability in the wider region.
As part of his programme, the president will address a reception at the headquarters of the Economic Development Board in Manama. Through this engagement, he is expected to highlight Pakistanโs economic potential and encourage stronger business-to-business ties.
Overall, the visit underscores a shared commitment to building a more dynamic and forward-looking partnership between Islamabad and Manama.
