Actress Melissa Gilbert has formally expressed her support for her husband, Timothy Busfield, following his surrender to law enforcement on Tuesday amid allegations of sexual abuse.
The arrest came four days after a warrant was issued in connection with claims involving two children. Busfield, 68, is accused of inappropriately touching 11-year-old twin boys in 2022 on the set of the television series The Cleaning Lady. He has denied the allegations, asserting his innocence during a brief interview with TMZ on January 13.
Represented by Ame Van Iden, Gilbertโs statement clarified her position and addressed misinformation circulating online. The statement emphasized that Gilbert is not making public statements at this time and cautioned against believing any purported remarks attributed to her, including AI-generated deepfakes.

The statement further noted that she is respecting the request of Busfieldโs lawyers and focusing on supporting and caring for their family during this difficult period. โMelissa stands with and supports her husband and will address the public at an appropriate time. We ask that their privacy be respected,โ the statement added.
Gilbert and Busfield have been married since 2013. Their representatives have reiterated the importance of respecting the familyโs privacy as the legal process unfolds.
Busfieldโs legal team has not released additional information regarding upcoming court dates. The couple has consistently maintained a low public profile, and Gilbertโs statement underscores her commitment to family and adherence to legal counsel amid ongoing proceedings.
