Pakistan International Airlines has announced free of cost travel for its passengers in Canada and UK trains. PIA has partnered with railway operators in Canada and the United Kingdom to offer passengers seamless air-to-rail connectivity.
A PIA spokesperson said that the national airline has finalized a landmark agreement enabling its travelers to use one ticket for both flights and onward train journeys in Toronto, Manchester, and London.
Under the new arrangement, passengers arriving in Toronto on PIA flights can continue their journey to eight major Canadian cities through the AccesRail service.
Likewise, travelers flying into Manchester and London can access more than 50 destinations across the UK using the same integrated ticket. As a result, customers can expect smoother transfers and greater flexibility when planning multi-city itineraries.
PIA said passengers can purchase these combined tickets from all airline booking offices and registered travel agents. In addition, travelers can complete bookings directly through PIA’s official website and mobile application. The airline emphasized that this digital access will simplify the booking process and reduce the need for separate reservations.
Airline targets modernization and passenger convenience
The spokesperson explained that the primary objective of the partnership is to improve convenience and deliver door-to-door travel solutions. Moreover, the air-to-rail integration marks a strategic step toward modernizing PIA’s network and accelerating digital transformation across its services.
AccesRail, an international firm that connects airlines with rail networks, is facilitating the collaboration. Notably, PIA first partnered with the company in January 2020, allowing passengers to reserve train tickets for destinations in the UK, Canada, and other countries via its booking platform. However, service expansion slowed during subsequent regulatory challenges.
Following the lifting of UK restrictions on PIA in July 2025, the airline has now revived and broadened this offering. Consequently, PIA aims to strengthen its international appeal, enhance customer experience, and position itself as a more competitive regional carrier in evolving global travel markets.
