The Information Ministry of Pakistan on Monday dismissed claims that U.S. fighter jets and aerial refueling aircraft were conducting operations in Pakistan to prepare for a potential strike on Iran.
The ministry stated that these rumors were circulated on social media, largely by accounts linked to India and Afghanistan, following U.S. President Donald Trumpโs statements about considering military action amid ongoing protests in Iran.
According to the ministry, false reports alleged that the U.S. had moved KC-135R aerial refueling tankers and surveillance aircraft to Pakistan and that the country was being used as a base for F-35 and F-22 stealth fighters for a possible strike.
The ministry clarified that U.S. aerial operations were actually recorded in Europe and the Middle East, citing reputable sources such as Reuters and The Washington Post. It confirmed that there is no credible evidence of KC-135R or ISR aircraft operating in Pakistan.
The ministry also reminded the public that Pakistan had condemned U.S. airstrikes on Iran in June of the previous year, including Operation โMidnight Hammer,โ which targeted nuclear facilities at Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz.
The ministry labeled the social media claims of Pakistanโs involvement as โrecklessโ and a โblame-pushingโ narrative aimed at dragging the country into a U.S.-Iran conflict without any verifiable evidence.
Officials urged the public not to share sensational military โbreaking newsโ from unverified propaganda pages and instead rely on credible sources, including the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), relevant ministries, and reputable defense outlets. The ministry emphasized that misinformation regarding Pakistanโs airspace and national security could mislead the public and inflame unnecessary tensions.
By clarifying these rumors, the Information Ministry reinforced Pakistanโs neutral stance on potential U.S.-Iran military action while promoting responsible sharing of defense-related news. Citizens are encouraged to rely on verified reporting to ensure accurate understanding of national and regional security developments.
