LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched a new phase of the Mein Digital program to expand digital employment opportunities for educated women living in rural areas of the province. Officials announced the initiative as part of a broader effort to strengthen digital inclusion and improve economic participation among women.
The Punjab Skills Development Fund is implementing the program in collaboration with government partners under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Authorities said the initiative focuses on equipping women with in-demand digital skills, enabling them to earn a sustainable income while working from home. As a result, the program seeks to remove mobility and cultural barriers that often limit employment options for women in rural communities.
Officials explained that the government designed the program to promote financial independence and long-term career pathways.
Moreover, the initiative aligns with provincial goals to modernize the workforce and support technology-driven economic growth. Consequently, departments involved in the rollout have accelerated outreach efforts to ensure maximum participation.
Training structure and financial support for participants
Under the Mein Digital initiative, selected candidates will receive structured digital skills training for six months. The curriculum covers practical competencies that support freelance work and remote employment. In addition, the program provides a monthly stipend of PKR 5,000 to help participants manage basic expenses during the training period.
Authorities have allocated 2,000 seats for the current intake. They confirmed that applications remain open for a limited time due to strong interest from eligible candidates across multiple districts. Therefore, officials urged applicants to submit forms as early as possible.
Eligibility criteria and application process
According to official guidelines, applicants must hold at least 16 years of education and must reside in rural areas of Punjab. Candidates must also pass an entry test to qualify for enrollment, while the age limit ranges from 21 to 40 years.
Interested applicants can submit applications online through the official PSDF website before the January 25 deadline.
