Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening defence ties with Bangladesh during high-level military engagements in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The discussions focused on regional security challenges, professional collaboration, and expanding bilateral military cooperation.
Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir hosted Bangladesh’s Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, at General Headquarters. During the meeting, both sides reviewed matters of shared strategic interest and evolving regional dynamics.
Field Marshal Munir emphasized Pakistan’s resolve to maintain enduring defence relations with Bangladesh. He stressed that cooperation between the two armed forces contributes to regional stability and mutual security.
Meanwhile, both military leaders discussed practical avenues for enhancing defence collaboration. These included joint training programs, professional exchanges, and greater institutional engagement between the services. As a result, both sides expressed confidence in expanding operational coordination.
Bangladesh’s air chief praised the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces. He acknowledged their role in promoting peace and stability across the region. Moreover, he highlighted the value of sustained military-to-military engagement between the two countries.
The meeting concluded with a shared understanding that closer defence ties remain essential amid shifting regional security realities. Both sides described the relationship as rooted in mutual respect and longstanding goodwill.
Separately, the Bangladesh air chief also met Pakistan’s Naval Chief, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, in Islamabad. During the interaction, they reviewed maritime security challenges and discussed ways to enhance naval cooperation.
The naval chief outlined Pakistan Navy’s initiatives aimed at ensuring regional maritime peace. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to cooperative security frameworks in the broader maritime domain.
In response, the Bangladesh air chief commended the operational standards of the Pakistan Navy. He expressed interest in deepening collaboration through joint exercises and professional exchanges.
Both delegations agreed that frequent high-level visits and structured training engagements would strengthen defence synergy. Consequently, they underscored the importance of institutional continuity to sustain long-term cooperation.
