Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, on Wednesday vowed to thwart attempts by Indian-sponsored proxies to spread violence and disrupt development in Balochistan.
Addressing participants of the 18th National Workshop on Balochistan at GHQ Rawalpindi, he affirmed that such “inimical designs” would be countered through stern actions by Pakistan’s security forces.
In a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the CDF praised the resilience and patriotism of the people of Balochistan, emphasizing the province’s strategic importance for Pakistan’s prosperity.
He highlighted the wide-ranging, people-centric initiatives undertaken by federal and provincial governments to improve socio-economic conditions and unlock Balochistan’s economic potential for its residents.
Field Marshal Munir also acknowledged the constructive role of civil society in countering propaganda and supporting sustainable development. He stressed the importance of rejecting vested political agendas to ensure Balochistan’s future is shaped by long-term growth and stability for all its people.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, he emphasized that any violation of the country’s territorial integrity, direct or indirect, would be met with a decisive response.
The CDF underlined that the Armed Forces remain dedicated to protecting the lives and well-being of citizens. The workshop concluded with an interactive session where participants engaged with the COAS and CDF on ongoing development and security efforts in the province.
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), sharing a porous border with Afghanistan, faced significant terrorism-related challenges in 2025. According to Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, 900 terror incidents resulted in 280 civilian deaths, 205 security personnel fatalities, and six officer casualties, two of whom were from the province.
Thousands of intelligence-based operations were conducted, eliminating 706 terrorists attempting infiltration from Afghanistan. He clarified that no large-scale military operations are ongoing, only intelligence-driven actions to ensure security.
The CDF’s remarks underscore Pakistan’s determination to safeguard Balochistan from external threats while promoting development, stability, and socio-economic progress across the province.
