Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty has disclosed that he rejected an endorsement deal worth INR 40 crore.
The offer came from a tobacco brand seeking his association. However, the veteran actor refused the proposal without hesitation. He cited personal values and social responsibility as key reasons.
Shetty, now 64, continues to enjoy admiration for his fitness and discipline. Despite reduced screen appearances, his public influence remains strong. In a recent interview, he explained his decision clearly. He stressed that money never outweighs principles in his life.
Commitment to Personal Values
Shetty said he considers himself a role model for young people. Therefore, he avoids promoting products he does not personally support. He stated that he could not associate with tobacco under any circumstances.
According to him, credibility matters more than financial gain.
The actor also emphasized family values during the discussion. He said he never used his childrenโs names to earn money. Likewise, he added that he never compromised his ethics for profit. As a result, he believes he earned long-term respect from audiences.
Shetty acknowledged that younger audiences still look up to him. Teenagers aged 17 and 18 often consider him an idol. He described this admiration as his greatest personal achievement. Consequently, he feels a deeper sense of responsibility toward society.
Life Beyond the Box Office
Shetty revealed that he stepped back from acting for personal reasons. His father suffered from a prolonged illness. Eventually, his father passed away after a long struggle. This period significantly changed Shettyโs priorities and outlook.
Interestingly, he received a film offer on the day his father died. However, he chose to focus on family rather than work. He explained that emotional balance mattered more during that time. Therefore, he remained away from films for an extended period.
After the global pandemic, Shetty shifted attention toward self-growth. He said the change brought mental peace and financial stability. Moreover, the break helped him regain confidence and clarity. He credited discipline and self-care for this transformation.
Shetty also acknowledged ongoing support from fans and media. Despite reduced box office presence, public appreciation remained strong. This support, he said, helped him stay grounded. Thus, he continues to focus on meaningful choices over commercial success.
