Sindh govt to decide about lockdown in Karachi today

Sindh health department has recommended a two-week complete lockdown in Karachi to curb the spread of the pandemic as the positivity rate in the mega city has gone beyond an alarming 30 per cent.

KARACHI: Sindh government will decide today whether or not a two week lockdown by imposed in Karachi to avert spike in the ongoing coronavirus in Karachi.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will chair the meeting, to be attended by provincial ministers and healthcare experts. For the first time, parliamentary leaders of political parties have also been invited to the meeting to get their viewpoint about lockdown.

Given the unsettling circumstances of the COVID-19 re-surge in Karachi, the task force has received a strong proposal to impose a complete lockdown in the metropolis.

Medical experts and the health department suggested halting inter-city and intra-city commute for two weeks.
