Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has finally addressed the controversy over her appearance in a Punjab Police uniform. She clarified that she had obtained official permission before wearing it for a government project. The issue arose after a petition claimed she used the uniform without authorization.
Actress Shares Permission Letter
To defend herself, Qamar shared a screenshot of a news report covering the petition. She also posted a formal letter dated September 31, 2021, addressed to the Deputy Inspector General of Lahore Operations. The letter requested permission to buy and wear the uniform for the “DGPR Punjab project aimed at Pakistan’s image betterment.”
By posting the documents, Qamar proved that she acted lawfully. She also criticized the petition as a publicity stunt, telling critics to “kindly look elsewhere for publicity.”
Qamar Emphasizes Hard Work and Success
In her statement, Qamar highlighted her hard work and achievements. She said, “Everything I have today is because of hard work. Focus on your own journey, as your time will come.” She encouraged her critics to pursue their own goals instead of targeting her.
Petition Filed in Lahore Court
The petition was filed by Wasim Zawar. He claimed that Qamar appeared in a police uniform and displayed an SP rank badge in a video on social media. He argued that wearing an official uniform requires a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from police authorities. Zawar also stated that he had submitted an application to the Old Anarkali police station to register a case, but authorities had not acted.
Court Hearing Scheduled for January 14
Lahore’s Additional Sessions Judge Ilyas Rehan heard the preliminary arguments. After reviewing both sides, the court adjourned the hearing until January 14. During the next session, the judge will examine Qamar’s evidence and the petitioner’s claims.
Overall, Qamar’s statement aims to clarify her position and counter claims made in the petition. Meanwhile, the court will decide the next steps in the case.
