Amid ongoing snowfall in Murree, the City Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory urging tourists to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel during harsh weather conditions.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Imran Razaq advised travelers to check the latest weather forecasts and traffic updates before planning a trip to the hill station, as snowfall continues in several areas and road conditions may change rapidly.
According to a spokesperson for City Traffic Police Murree, traffic police personnel are fully prepared to assist tourists and manage traffic flow during the winter spell. Additional traffic wardens have been deployed at key points across Murree to facilitate visitors, prevent congestion, and ensure public safety.
The spokesperson added that CTO Imran Razaq is personally supervising traffic operations and remains present in the field to oversee arrangements and respond promptly to any emerging situation.
The advisory emphasizes that tourists traveling during snowfall should use properly equipped four-wheel-drive vehicles to reduce the risk of skidding and accidents.
Motorists have been instructed to keep their fuel tanks full, as traffic congestion and road closures may cause delays. Travelers are also advised to carry adequate warm clothing and essential supplies to cope with cold weather conditions.
Drivers have been urged to strictly follow traffic rules, avoid over-speeding, and maintain appropriate tire pressure to ensure better control on slippery roads. The advisory also warns motorists against parking vehicles in no-parking zones, as improperly parked vehicles can obstruct traffic flow and hamper snow-clearing operations.
Traffic police have issued strict instructions prohibiting the creation of double lanes under any circumstances during snowfall, as this practice can lead to severe congestion and increase the risk of accidents.
Tourists have been advised to cooperate with on-duty traffic wardens and follow their directions, as they are deployed to maintain smooth traffic movement and ensure the safety of all road users.
In case of traffic-related issues or emergencies, citizens and tourists can contact the Murree Traffic Control Room at 051-9269200 for assistance and guidance.
