5.5 Million Rural Pakistanis to Receive High-Speed Internet via USF Projects
The Universal Service Fund (USF) is implementing nine broadband expansion projects worth Rs. 13.05 billion to deliver high-speed internet to rural and underserved communities. These projects aim to bridge the digital divide and facilitate access to education, e-commerce, and government services.
Officials emphasize that connecting rural populations supports socio-economic development, reduces information gaps, and enhances access to online opportunities. The projects include fiber backbone deployment, last-mile connectivity, and partnerships with private operators.
Experts believe that reliable rural broadband is critical for the digital economy, enabling remote work, online learning, and digital entrepreneurship.
