Iqra University has officially entered Pakistanโs legal education sector with the launch of Iqra Law School at its main campus in Karachi, marking a milestone in the universityโs 25-year academic journey.
The law school welcomed its first LLB cohort, Class of 2029, establishing the institution among providers of premium legal education in the country.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nassar Ikram, who addressed students, faculty, and leadership, emphasizing the law schoolโs vision to strengthen Pakistanโs legal ecosystem. Dr. Ikram highlighted the importance of producing ethical, skilled, and globally competent legal professionals capable of contributing to national and international legal arenas.
Speaking to the inaugural batch, the Vice Chancellor underscored the foundational role of the first cohort in shaping the law schoolโs legacy. He urged students to pursue excellence, integrity, and strategic thinking, noting that the program was designed to meet the national demand for lawyers with global exposure and professional versatility.
Dr. Ikram also drew inspiration from Pakistanโs eminent jurists, including Justice Hamoodur Rahman, Justice Dorab Patel, and Justice Rana Bhagwandas, citing their commitment to justice as benchmarks for aspiring lawyers.
He stressed that law extends beyond the courtroom, encompassing governance, policy-making, international arbitration, and the protection of national interests, encouraging students to engage in high-impact legal work.
Led by Dean Justice (Retd.) Nadeem Akhtar, Iqra Law School has been developed with a focus on quality, professional relevance, and ethics. The school aims to become a premier seat of legal education in Pakistan, offering experienced faculty guidance, practical training, international linkages, and a values-driven curriculum.
The launch of Iqra Law School marks a significant step in Pakistanโs legal education landscape, setting a new standard for legal training and preparing future lawyers to contribute meaningfully to a principled and effective justice system.
