Jemima Goldsmith, former wife of Imran Khan, has appealed to X CEO Elon Musk to restore her post impressions, claiming her account is subject to “secret throttling.”
She highlighted that her posts regarding Imran Khan’s imprisonment and her sons’ inability to communicate with him are being deliberately suppressed by the platform, despite Musk’s pledge to protect free speech and lawful political expression.
According to Jemima, the Pakistani authorities have prioritized silencing criticism from Imran Khan’s immediate circle, and X has allegedly complied just enough to maintain operations in the country. She cited analytics from X’s AI, Grok, showing a dramatic drop in her reach: from averaging 400–900 million impressions per month in 2023–early 2024 to only 28.6 million total impressions in 2025—a 97% decrease.
The decline reportedly began after a post in May 2025 spiked to four million impressions following the end of Pakistan’s X ban, after which her content was effectively hidden from most followers.
Jemima stressed that these numbers are directly from Grok’s analysis and urged Musk to honor his commitment to free speech by removing the “secret throttling” on her account @Jemima_Khan. She emphasized that X has been the only independent platform where she could highlight Imran’s 22 months in solitary confinement and the denial of access by their children.
The appeal has gained support from public figures like Piers Morgan, who called the suppression “obvious” and urged Musk to intervene, highlighting the broader context of Imran Khan’s imprisonment.
Since 2023, the former Pakistani prime minister has faced multiple charges, including corruption and incitement related to the May 9, 2023, protests, which he denies as politically motivated. Jemima’s campaign underscores concerns over online censorship and the challenges of expressing political support in Pakistan under heavy governmental restrictions.
