The United States has deported several Iranians under Donald Trump’s immigration policy. The Foreign Ministry of Iran also confirmed today that 55 Iranians have been deported from the United States.
Officials said the group represents the second batch expelled under President Donald Trump’s stricter immigration policies. The ministry announced the development after reviewing reports sent from Iranian offices abroad.
Mojtaba Shasti Karimi, director-general of consular affairs, told Mizan News Agency about the deportation. He said the nationals completed all legal and administrative procedures. He added that Iran’s Interests Section in Washington supervised their paperwork. Officials said diplomatic staff closely followed the case to ensure compliance with international norms.
Transit missions are instructed to ensure humane treatment
Iran instructed its diplomatic missions in transit countries to monitor the deportees’ transfer. Officials urged the missions to ensure proper and humane treatment during the journey. They said such oversight remained essential due to past concerns about deportation conditions. However, authorities did not disclose the deportees’ identities or arrival schedule.
Reports indicate that the group is being flown from an ICE facility in Arizona. They will reportedly travel to Egypt before continuing to Iran via Kuwait. Officials said the route aimed to streamline coordination between involved countries.
Recent reports highlight wider deportation campaign
The announcement followed a December 5 report by the BBC. The report claimed that US authorities planned to deport more than 50 Iranians within 48 hours. CNN also interviewed an Iranian scheduled for the same flight. He claimed returning to Iran would endanger his life due to his sexual orientation. He said he had applied for asylum in the United States. However, his claim remained unresolved at the time of the interview. CNN said it could not verify his account independently.
Earlier, on September 29, the United States deported 120 Iranians to Tehran. The group included three women. Reports alleged mistreatment and close security escorts during their transfer.
According to the Iranian officials, the US administration plans to deport about 400 Iranians. However, they argued that diplomatic efforts would continue to look into each deportation case.
