Katy Perry and former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau appeared to hint at their relationship on Saturday when the pop star shared a series of photos and videos featuring the two during her tour stop in Japan. The posts marked the first time either has publicly acknowledged their closeness on social media, adding fuel to months of speculation.
In one selfie from Perry’s Instagram carousel, the pair smile closely together, while another clip shows them sampling sushi in Tokyo.
Although neither Perry nor Trudeau has directly commented on the nature of their relationship, rumours have circulated for months after they were repeatedly spotted together at various public and private events. Trudeau also attended one of Perry’s concerts earlier this year, further intensifying speculation.
Perry, currently in Japan for her global Lifetimes Tour, captioned her post: “Tokyo times on tour and more,” leaving fans to interpret the subtle hints. Meanwhile, earlier this week, Trudeau reshared a photo showing himself and Perry meeting former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife Yuko during the same trip.
“Katy and I were very pleased to have the opportunity to sit and speak with you and Yuko,” Trudeau wrote on X, thanking Kishida for his “friendship” and support for the rules-based international order.
The pair had already sparked interest last month when they were photographed holding hands at a Paris event coinciding with Perry’s 41st birthday. Those images reignited conversations online about a possible romantic relationship, but Saturday’s posts have taken the speculation to a new level, marking the most open display of their time together to date.
As fans, media outlets and social platforms continue to buzz, Perry and Trudeau have remained silent publicly — though their latest photos in Japan have made louder statements than any official confirmation.
