ISLAMABAD: The federal government has firmly rejected speculation about alleged cracks between the civil and military leadership, calling the claims baseless and misleading. Officials stressed that the rumours circulating across social media and certain political forums have no factual basis.
Dr Tauqir Shah, former principal secretary to the prime minister and a close cabinet aide, said that there was no truth in any narrative suggesting tensions between the government and Field Marshal Asim Munir. He said the working relationship remained smooth and fully aligned.
Moreover, Dr Shah dismissed talk of delays in issuing the notification concerning the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces. He said no disagreement existed on the matter and described the speculation as unfounded.
He added that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif holds Field Marshal Munir in high regard. According to Dr Shah, Nawaz Sharif has praised the field marshal for his professionalism, commitment and service to the state.
Furthermore, Dr Shah pointed out that Nawaz Sharif supported the 27th Constitutional Amendment. He said this vote demonstrated the former prime minister’s ongoing commitment to the institutional framework and military leadership.
He described the rumours of strained ties and delayed notifications as mischief and rumour-mongering. He said such narratives only create confusion at a time when Pakistan requires stability and unity. Officials believe that spreading inaccurate stories undermines public confidence and distracts from national priorities.
Additionally, Dr Shah said the elected government and military leadership share a uniquely harmonious relationship. He said both sides remain immaculately aligned to achieve national objectives. Any suggestion of a rift, he stated, has no grounding in reality.
The government maintains that cooperation between state institutions remains intact. Officials said both civil and military leaders continue to work together on security, political and economic goals.
