Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif touched down in Lahore following a four-day international tour that took him through Bahrain and the United Kingdom. Government representatives and senior administrative officials greeted the premier upon his arrival at Lahore airport.
The Prime Minister’s journey began with an official state visit to Bahrain, where he participated in high-level diplomatic discussions and attended the prestigious Bahrain Knighthood Award ceremony as an honored guest. Following his official duties in the Gulf nation, he proceeded to London for personal engagements.
Sources indicate that PM Shehbaz will spend the evening at his private residence in Lahore before making his way to the capital city tomorrow. However, a significant development is anticipated before his departure—a strategic meeting scheduled to take place in Lahore.
While specific details remain confidential, insiders suggest the meeting will address pressing political matters and current governmental policies. The discussions are expected to influence important administrative decisions in the near future.
The Prime Minister’s return comes at a critical juncture, particularly concerning the appointment of Pakistan’s inaugural Chief of Defence Forces. This newly established position emerged from the recently enacted 27th Constitutional Amendment, which has generated considerable public interest and discussion.
Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar addressed concerns regarding the delayed notification for the CDF appointment, which missed its November 29 deadline. Speaking to journalists, Tarar clarified that the postponement reflects standard procedural requirements rather than governmental uncertainty.
The Law Minister explained that the Prime Minister’s absence from the country necessitated the delay. He indicated that administrative preparations may already be finalized, with the Defence Ministry awaiting coordination with the Prime Minister’s Office before issuing the official notification.
The appointment is expected to be formalized shortly after PM Shehbaz settles back into his official duties in Islamabad, marking a historic moment in Pakistan’s military administrative structure.
