Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry clarified on Tuesday that Pakistan had not carried out any attack on Afghanistan, stressing that the country always makes a formal public announcement whenever it conducts an operation. Addressing a news conference, he reiterated that Pakistanโs stance and actions were directed solely against terrorism, not the Afghan people.
Lt Gen Chaudhry urged journalists to avoid speculation regarding the court martial proceedings of former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, describing the matter as a legal and judicial process. He said details would be shared once the process reached its conclusion.
Highlighting Pakistanโs key concerns, he said cross-border support for terrorism remained the primary issue. He also underscored the need to dismantle the nexus between smuggling networks and political crime operating along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
He noted that some social media accounts operating from abroad were attempting to build anti-state narratives, and stressed that Pakistanโs concerns were strictly linked to the Afghan interim government, not the Afghan population.
The DG ISPR said Pakistan must strengthen its internal coordination to effectively counter terrorism. He made it clear that talks with the Afghan authorities would not resume until verifiable action was taken against terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil. He reaffirmed the unity of the Pakistani people and armed forces in their resolve to eliminate terrorism.
Lt Gen Chaudhry said Pakistan did not differentiate between โgoodโ and โbadโ Taliban and drew no distinctions among terrorist outfits. He stated that Pakistan had repeatedly engaged the Afghan government from 2021 to 2025 to address its concerns, adding that militants were now using American weapons left behind in Afghanistan.
He revealed that since November 6, security forces had killed 206 terrorists. All suicide attackers, he noted, were Afghan nationals. He added that 4,910 counterterrorism operations had been carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan during this period.
