Pakistan Navy has successfully conducted a test flight of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Tuesday. The test marks a significant milestone in the country’s defense capabilities, demonstrating both technological advancement and operational readiness.
According to ISPR, the missile is designed to engage both sea and land targets with high precision. It incorporates advanced guidance systems and enhanced manoeuvrability, enabling it to perform effectively in complex operational environments. This achievement highlights Pakistan’s growing technological competence and the Navy’s commitment to strengthening national defense.
The test was closely observed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, along with senior scientists and engineers involved in the missile’s development. Their presence underscores the importance of the project and the collaborative efforts of Pakistan’s defense and scientific communities in advancing indigenous military technology.
The successful launch also received recognition from the country’s top leadership. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, outgoing Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and other service chiefs congratulated the units and scientists responsible for the test. Their endorsements reflect the national significance of the milestone, both in terms of strategic defense and technological self-reliance.
Officials emphasized that the missile’s capabilities provide a strategic boost to Pakistan Navy’s operational readiness, particularly in maritime defense. Its dual capability to strike both naval and terrestrial targets enhances deterrence and contributes to safeguarding national interests.
The ISPR highlighted that the successful trial is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to develop advanced indigenous weapon systems. These initiatives are aimed at reinforcing the country’s defense posture while promoting self-reliance in critical military technologies.
With the successful test, Pakistan continues to demonstrate progress in modernizing its naval arsenal, underscoring the importance of homegrown research and development in defense. The achievement is expected to bolster the Navy’s confidence and operational capacity, reinforcing the nation’s security architecture in a challenging regional environment.
