Pakistan Navy has successfully conducted a test flight of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Tuesday. The test marks a significant milestone in the countryโs defense capabilities, demonstrating both technological advancement and operational readiness.
According to ISPR, the missile is designed to engage both sea and land targets with high precision. It incorporates advanced guidance systems and enhanced manoeuvrability, enabling it to perform effectively in complex operational environments. This achievement highlights Pakistanโs growing technological competence and the Navyโs commitment to strengthening national defense.
The test was closely observed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, along with senior scientists and engineers involved in the missileโs development. Their presence underscores the importance of the project and the collaborative efforts of Pakistanโs defense and scientific communities in advancing indigenous military technology.
The successful launch also received recognition from the countryโs top leadership. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, outgoing Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and other service chiefs congratulated the units and scientists responsible for the test. Their endorsements reflect the national significance of the milestone, both in terms of strategic defense and technological self-reliance.
Officials emphasized that the missileโs capabilities provide a strategic boost to Pakistan Navyโs operational readiness, particularly in maritime defense. Its dual capability to strike both naval and terrestrial targets enhances deterrence and contributes to safeguarding national interests.
The ISPR highlighted that the successful trial is part of Pakistanโs broader efforts to develop advanced indigenous weapon systems. These initiatives are aimed at reinforcing the countryโs defense posture while promoting self-reliance in critical military technologies.
With the successful test, Pakistan continues to demonstrate progress in modernizing its naval arsenal, underscoring the importance of homegrown research and development in defense. The achievement is expected to bolster the Navyโs confidence and operational capacity, reinforcing the nationโs security architecture in a challenging regional environment.
