ISLAMABAD: National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has exposed a fake NADRA website, alerting overseas Pakistanis about this fraud. Fake website is targeting overseas Pakistanis especially those in the United Kingdom.
Therefore, NADRA said the nationals living abroad have been advised to remain cautious after NADRA issued a warning about a fake website. The authority said the fraudulent platform, operating as โNADRA Card Centre,โ is misleading overseas Pakistanis. The site, available at nadra.cardcentre.co.uk, falsely claims to offer official services. It advertises identity card processing, NICOP assistance, and even employment opportunities. NADRA confirmed that the website has no affiliation with the organization. Officials stressed that the site misuses NADRAโs name to deceive unsuspecting applicants.
Authority Highlights Potential Risks
NADRA warned that personal data submitted to such platforms could be misused. The authority noted that victims may face financial or identity-related harm. Officials urged overseas citizens to verify all service providers before sharing sensitive information. Moreover, NADRA has lodged a formal complaint with the National Cyber Crime Agency. The complaint requests immediate action against the operators of the fraudulent site. The authority also encouraged citizens to report similar platforms targeting expatriates.
NADRA Urges Married Citizens to Update Records
Earlier, NADRA issued another advisory for married citizens living in Pakistan. The authority instructed individuals to update their marital status in official records promptly. Officials said delays could cause legal complications in future documentation processes. NADRA released the advisory through a post on its official Facebook page. It noted that many people registered their marriages with Union Councils but did not update NADRAโs database. Additionally, the authority urged affected citizens to visit NADRA centers to correct their records.
Efforts to Improve Data Accuracy
NADRA said the update process supports its wider efforts to maintain accurate citizen data. The authority has also introduced an SMS service to inform married citizens about required updates. Citizens may seek guidance through the NADRA helpline at 1777 for mobile users. Landline users can contact 051-111-786-100 for additional support. They may also visit the official NADRA website for further details.
Fee Structure and Required Documents
Meanwhile, NADRA charges a nominal fee of Rs 100 for updating marital status on a CNIC. Applicants should produce documents to update their requests. A marriage certificate or Nikahnama, depending on each applicantโs case, is essential for completing this process.
