ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a notice to Minister of State for Interior Senator Talal Chaudhry. The notice concerns his visit to Faisalabadโs PP-116 constituency. It also covers his media talk held after the visit. Officials say the activities appear to violate election rules.
According to the ECP Punjab spokesperson, the District Monitoring Officer in Faisalabad initiated the action. The spokesperson said the DMO found Chaudhryโs conduct in breach of the Election Act 2017. The DMO also cited violations of the official election code of conduct. The spokesperson confirmed that the notice was sent on Sunday.
Response Required Within Two Days
Talal Chaudhry has been asked to submit his response within two days. The ECP wants clarity on the purpose of his visit. The commission also seeks an explanation for his public statements during the visit. Officials say the notice follows standard monitoring procedures.
The ECP Punjab spokesperson said the DMO has been directed to prepare a detailed report. The report will be sent to the Election Commission headquarters in Islamabad. The commission will review the findings before deciding further action.
