A new entry in the Ratchet & Clank franchise has been announced, though this time it will not be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. According to IGN, the game, titled Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, is set to launch on mobile platforms in the near future. Developed by French studio Oh BiBi, the title marks the series’ first major move into mobile gaming and is described as a “fast-paced multiplayer platformer arena shooter.”
A newly released trailer showcases gameplay where players can take control of several well-known Ratchet & Clank characters, including Ratchet himself, across a variety of modes. These include Total Rumble, a traditional arena shooter mode; Blast Ball, a soccer-inspired competition; and Bolt Rush, where players race to collect as many bolts as possible.
The game’s premise is set within a simulation created by the fan-favorite character Captain Qwark, bringing together heroes from “across the galaxy and time” to compete in chaotic team-based battles.
Players can either join random teams solo or squad up online with friends for cooperative play. While details on additional features remain limited, the trailer emphasizes quick, action-packed matches designed for short mobile sessions.
The announcement comes nearly four years after the release of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart in 2021, which received critical acclaim as one of the standout PlayStation 5 exclusives. Fans had been eagerly anticipating news of another large-scale console adventure, making this mobile-focused release a surprising shift for the franchise.
Despite this, Ranger Rumble aims to capture the series’ signature humor, weapons, and energy in a new format suited for mobile gamers. Pre-registrations for Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble are currently open on the official website, with the release date yet to be confirmed.
