Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda was admitted to a Mumbai hospital early Wednesday after collapsing at his Juhu residence. Meanwhile, fellow screen legend Dharmendra was discharged the same morning after treatment for a brief health issue.
Govinda Collapses at Home
According to Indian media reports, the 61-year-old actor lost consciousness soon after midnight on Tuesday. His family rushed him to a nearby private hospital around 1 am when his condition did not improve despite receiving initial treatment at home.
Govindaโs lawyer, Lalit Bindal, said the actor had taken prescribed medication before feeling lightheaded and fainting. He added that Govinda was kept under medical observation overnight for precautionary measures.
Doctors Declare Govinda Stable
Govindaโs manager, Shashi Sinha, said that doctors were reviewing his medical reports and closely monitoring his recovery. She confirmed that Govinda was โstable and alertโ and had been discharged later in the morning.
The health scare occurred only a few days after Govinda visited Dharmendra, who had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to breathing difficulties.
Dharmendra Returns Home After Brief Hospitalisation
Rumours about Dharmendraโs death circulated online earlier this week, but his family quickly dismissed the false claims. In a statement, they said the veteran actor was released from the hospital at 7:30am on Wednesday and was now recuperating at home.
Dharmendraโs doctor told PTI that he would continue his recovery under medical supervision. His manager, Amit Tuli, requested fans and the media to avoid speculation about the actorโs health.
Govindaโs Previous Health Incident
Govinda, known for blockbuster films such as Hero No. 1, Partner, and Raja Babu, faced a similar health issue last year. He was hospitalised after accidentally injuring his knee with his licensed firearm.
Both Govinda and Dharmendra have received an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues across the Indian film industry.
