Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will be delayed from its initially planned May 2026 release to November 19, 2026. Although the game is reportedly complete, developers are taking extra time to polish the experience, aiming to avoid bugs or glitches similar to those seen in Cyberpunk 2077. The announcement has generated significant attention worldwide, even sparking discussion in the Polish parliament.
During a parliamentary session, Witold Tumanowicz, a member of the KWiN opposition party (Confederation Liberty and Independence), addressed the postponement. He remarked, “As part of my parliamentary statement, I wanted to inform you about a very disturbing matter.
An hour ago, Rockstar Games announced that the release of GTA VI will be postponed until next year. This is a huge scandal.” Tumanowicz further added, “Frankly, if people don’t take to the streets after something like this, I don’t know what will happen.”
Paweł Szrot of the ruling Law and Justice Party acknowledged Tumanowicz’s statement, saying, “I respect such statements, Representative,” and humorously noted he hoped that the upcoming add-on for Bannerlord would not face similar delays.
Despite the postponement, excitement for GTA VI remains high. The game’s first trailer has become the most viewed trailer on YouTube in nearly two years, surpassing Avengers: Infinity War, with close to 269 million views. Fans continue to discuss both the delay and the game’s anticipated quality across social media and online forums.
Rockstar Games has emphasized that the extended development time is intended to ensure the game meets player expectations and delivers the experience fans “expect and deserve.”
The company is focused on quality and stability, highlighting its commitment to launching a polished, fully realized game on the revised release date of November 19, 2026. The delay, while disappointing to some, underscores Rockstar’s prioritization of a smooth and engaging gameplay experience over a rushed launch.
