Charli XCX has captivated fans with her goth-inspired energy in the new soundtrack for Wuthering Heights, collaborating with music legend John Cale. The song, titled Home, accompanies the upcoming film adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel, which stars Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff and Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw.
The story follows the tragic romance between Heathcliff, an orphaned outsider, and Catherine, a woman from a wealthy 18th-century English family, highlighting love, obsession, and social divides.
Charli XCX shared the release on Instagram, writing, “If there’s beauty, say it’s enough… Home featuring @therealjohncale from my upcoming album for ‘Wuthering Heights’ is here. Directed by @mitchryan.” The track’s music video mirrors the eerie tone of the film, set in a remote cabin where both artists appear in isolation.
John Cale delivers a hypnotic spoken-word passage, complementing Charli’s ethereal vocals, while dark synths and minimal piano underscore the hauntingly romantic mood that defines the narrative.
The collaboration reflects Charli’s long-standing admiration for Cale, whom she praised for his description of the Velvet Underground’s sound as both “elegant and brutal.” Rolling Stone previously highlighted her fascination with that philosophy, which clearly influenced the sonic textures of Home.
Beyond music, Charli is also busy with upcoming film projects, including roles in Faces of Death, I Want Your Sex, The Gallerist, and Sacrifice. Her artistic versatility is evident in the way she channels both visual and musical storytelling, making her an ideal contributor to the Wuthering Heights soundtrack.
The film is set to release on February 13, 2026, promising a dark and emotionally intense reinterpretation of Brontë’s novel. With Charli XCX and John Cale’s haunting track, audiences can expect a soundtrack that perfectly captures the tragic romance and gothic atmosphere at the heart of the story, combining brooding melancholy with contemporary musical sensibilities to set the tone for the film.
