The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has dismissed 85 officials over allegations of mismanagement and financial corruption, according to an official notification. The decision, approved by the CDA chairman, targets key departments including water supply, law, planning, enforcement, environment, construction, and mechanical divisions.
The notification details that 12 directors and one deputy director general have been reassigned as Officers on Special Duty (OSD), while 16 deputy directors and 11 assistant directors were also temporarily designated as OSDs.
In addition, 30 officers and staff from the CDA Deputy Commissionerโs Office were removed from their positions. These measures reflect the authorityโs broader efforts to address inefficiencies and promote transparency within its operations.
Officials highlighted that the dismissals aim to strengthen governance and accountability within the CDA. By removing personnel involved in corrupt or mismanaged activities, the authority seeks to ensure that public resources are managed responsibly and efficiently.
Reports regarding the suspended and dismissed officers have been forwarded to the federal interior minister for further investigation and potential action, signaling collaboration between local and federal authorities in combating corruption.
The move has been seen as part of a wider initiative to reform institutional practices and restore public confidence in the CDAโs administration. Observers note that such actions are critical to improving service delivery in Islamabad, particularly in sectors like water supply, law enforcement, and urban planning, which directly impact citizensโ daily lives.
While the CDA has yet to release detailed information about individual cases, the broad scope of the dismissals underscores the seriousness of the corruption and mismanagement concerns.
Authorities have assured the public that these measures are intended to enhance operational efficiency and establish a culture of accountability, setting a precedent for stricter oversight within the organization moving forward.
The CDAโs decision reflects ongoing efforts to address systemic issues and implement reforms aimed at improving governance and service quality in the capital city.
