CM Maryam Nawaz Unveils Digital Punjab Vision
The Punjab government has officially launched the Chief Minister’s IT Internship Programme, a landmark initiative aimed at empowering young IT graduates and transforming the province into a technology hub. Announced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the programme is designed to connect fresh graduates with top software companies across Punjab.
Under this initiative, selected IT and computer science graduates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 during a five-month internship. The programme’s goal is to help participants gain hands-on experience, develop market-relevant skills, and train in emerging technologies that are reshaping Pakistan’s digital landscape.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the programme aligns with her government’s vision of a “Digital Punjab.” She added that the province is on its way to becoming Pakistan’s leading IT hub, fostering innovation and creating new avenues for youth employment.
How to Apply for the IT Internship Programme
According to the Punjab government, the internships will be offered at renowned software houses where participants will work alongside experienced industry mentors and professionals. This exposure will help interns build strong technical foundations and improve their career prospects in the fast-growing IT sector.
To apply, Punjab residents holding a four-year IT or computer science degree can submit their applications online at https://cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk/.
Highlighting the province’s broader digital initiatives, Maryam Nawaz said the Nawaz Sharif IT City project will serve as a “game changer” for the technology industry, offering opportunities for startups, investors, and skilled youth alike.
The CM concluded that such forward-looking programmes are key to building a skilled workforce, promoting economic growth, and enhancing Pakistan’s global IT competitiveness.
