US President Donald Trump announced that Kazakhstan will officially join the Abraham Accords, normalising relations with Israel. The accords aim to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Israel and Muslim-majority countries.
Leaders Hold Triangular Discussion
Trump revealed the decision after a joint call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He shared the news on Truth Social, saying, โWe will soon announce a Signing Ceremony to make it official.โ Trump also added that โmany more countriesโ are eager to join this โclub of strength.โ
US Expands Influence in Central Asia
Earlier on Thursday, Trump hosted Tokayev and four other Central Asian leaders at the White House. The meeting marked Washingtonโs latest effort to strengthen its influence in a region long dominated by Russia and increasingly courted by China. The discussion focused on enhancing economic cooperation, regional stability, and mutual security interests.
Kazakhstanโs Move Seen as Strategic Shift
Kazakhstanโs participation in the Abraham Accords signals a strategic diplomatic shift toward greater engagement with the West and Israel. Analysts view this as a step that could deepen Kazakhstanโs global partnerships and attract investment opportunities in technology, energy, and trade.
