Showrunner Confirms Post-Production Progress, Promises Explosive Finale
Fans of Amazon Prime Video’s hit superhero satire The Boys have reason to get excited — creator and showrunner Eric Kripke has shared a major update about the show’s highly anticipated final season.
Taking to Instagram, Kripke thanked fans for their unwavering support and enthusiasm, particularly following the success of the show’s spinoff series Gen V. “First, thank you for watching & loving @genv,” he wrote, before humorously urging those who haven’t seen it yet to stop “doom scrolling” and catch up.
Editing Completed, VFX and Music in Progress
In the latter part of his post, Kripke revealed that the team is making strong progress on the final season of The Boys. Sharing a behind-the-scenes photo with members of the VFX team, he wrote, “We’re hard at work finishing @theboystv Final Season. Editing is all done — we’re roughly halfway finished with VFX, Music, and Color.”
He went on to express his excitement for what fans can expect, adding, “I’m really happy with how it’s going and can’t wait for you to see. We go out with a bang. COMING (reasonably) SOON.”
While Kripke didn’t reveal an exact release date, insiders and earlier reports suggest that the final season of The Boys is expected to premiere sometime in 2026.
A Grand Farewell for a Cult Favorite
Since its debut in 2019, The Boys has become one of Prime Video’s most popular original series, praised for its dark humor, sharp political commentary, and bold storytelling. The show has also spawned successful spin-offs, including Gen V, expanding its universe while maintaining the same satirical edge.
Fans are now eagerly awaiting how the story of Homelander, Butcher, and the rest of the morally complex characters will conclude in the show’s explosive finale — one Kripke promises will “go out with a bang.”
