BAJAUR: In a major counterterrorism breakthrough, security forces killed four terrorists, including a senior Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander, during an operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops detected a group of terrorists attempting to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan on the night of October 29 and 30. Forces swiftly engaged the militants, killing four, including Amjad alias Mazahim, a top leader of Fitna al-Khawarij and deputy to TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud.
Precise Engagement Neutralizes High-Value Target
The ISPR said Amjad was “a high-value target” and head of the Rehbari Shura of the Indian-backed terror outfit. Authorities had placed a Rs 5 million bounty on him for orchestrating multiple attacks in Pakistan while residing in Afghanistan.
“Sanitisation operations are underway to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored militants in the area,” the statement added. Security forces reaffirmed that Operation Azm-e-Istehkam would continue until terrorism is completely eradicated.
TTP Leadership Operating from Afghanistan
ISPR stated that the TTP leadership based in Afghanistan continues to direct infiltration attempts to falsely portray a domestic presence and boost the morale of its fighters in Bajaur and Mohmand.
The statement urged the interim Afghan government to ensure its territory is not used for attacks against Pakistan, reiterating that Afghan soil remains a safe haven for anti-Pakistan militants.
Operations in Balochistan
Earlier, security forces killed eighteen India-backed terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Quetta and Kech districts. Fourteen militants were eliminated in the Chiltan Mountains, while four were neutralised in Buleda, Kech.
Pakistan continues to face rising terror incidents, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in 2021.
