Journalist clarifies use of maiden name on social media, says she proudly carries both her father’s and husband’s names.
Prominent Pakistani journalist and TV anchor Farah Yousaf has firmly denied rumours suggesting a split from her husband, Iqrar Ul Hassan, calling the speculation baseless and misleading. The clarification came during her appearance on the Zawiya podcast, where she addressed public curiosity surrounding her name on various social media platforms.
In recent days, social media had been abuzz with claims of a rift between the popular media couple. However, Farah put an end to the speculation, explaining that her use of the name “Farah Yousaf” stems from her personal identity and pride in her family name rather than any marital issues.
Farah Clarifies Use of Maiden Name Online
Responding to a fan’s question about why she continues to use her maiden name on some accounts, Farah explained that many of her older verified profiles still display the name “Farah Yousaf” due to platform verification restrictions.
“A lot of people know me by my father’s name, and I take pride in that,” she said. “The name ‘Yousaf’ honours my father, and no bond is more sacred than that between a father and his child.”
She added that while she sometimes considers using “Farah Iqrar” in her biography, she values both names equally. “I cherish both names deeply and consider them my own,” she said.
Rejects Separation Claims, Emphasises Mutual Respect
Dismissing the ongoing gossip, Farah stated clearly, “There is no separation; people create their own stories.” Her comments reassured fans who had been speculating about tensions between her and Iqrar Ul Hassan, one of Pakistan’s most well-known television hosts.
Farah’s dignified response highlights her respect for both her family heritage and marital relationship, reaffirming that personal identity and professional recognition can coexist harmoniously.
The couple, known for their individual contributions to Pakistani journalism and broadcasting, continues to enjoy a strong fan following, with supporters applauding Farah’s candidness and poise in addressing the rumours.
